We spent
the day at Hampton Court Palace (the third of the Historic Royal Palaces). This
was a great time, and if you go, take the costumed character tours, and stay
for the recreation of the historic events (it was at 2:30 the day we went).
Part of the
Tudor buildings were knocked down by William and Mary. It was really
interesting to stand in the court yard one direction was one time period and
when you turned around you were looking at a completely different style of
building.
There are
some really great architectural features at Hampton Court. These are the
ceilings of the arches surrounding the courtyards.
This clock will tell you the level of the tide in London.
We
attempted the maze and actually saw the middle, but we weren't able to get
there ourselves. The weather was beautiful, as you can tell, and some of the
plants in the gardens were blooming.
After we
got back, we did some shopping, and went to Sticky Fingers to hang out with
some of the Scottish Country Dancers from Saturday. We were very happy to meet
them as they treated us as friends Saturday and again today. We learned all
about Christmas crackers and Pimms.
